Prior to joining Hugill & Ip, Emily was an associate at a Hong Kong firm in association with a reputable PRC law firm. She completed her traineeship at an international law firm that specializes in private client work. During her training, Emily gained ample experience in the areas of wealth and estate planning, trusts, probate, matrimonial law and dispute resolution.
Emily now focuses her practice on private wealth management, trusts, succession planning and probate. She assists individuals with a wide range of family and wealth related issues, including the drafting of highly customized wills and the setting up of trusts that involve cross-border interests. She also works with other law firms and professional trustees in assisting companies with pre-IPO trusts and employee benefit schemes.
Emily originally lived in Taiwan and moved to Hong Kong in 2006. She obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration (Law), Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
When Emily is not assisting clients with their legal issues, she performs in various venues as the vocalist and guitarist of two Hong Kong indie bands.
