Saadia Usmani of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK)’s Radio 3 talks to Andrew Chidgey of AIDS Concern and Alfred Ip about the importance of Estate Planning and the Wills of Concern charity campaign!
From the necessity of making a Will to the Probate process in Hong Kong, Alfred Ip explains the upsides of having properly planned your assets – both material and your final wishes. This is especially important for same-sex couples given the lack of legal protection in Hong Kong for the LGBT community.
What do you need to consider and do before you make your Will? Why do you need a private client specialised lawyer to draft your Will? When do you need to review your Will?
Andrew Chidgey reiterates the fact that people should also better plan for their health and introduces the mechanics of the charitable initiative. AIDS Concern will increase the investment in education about HIV towards young people and the direct support to people living with HIV through counseling, especially for newly infected individuals. Stigma is one of the major issues impacting these individuals, so the extra efforts made by this campaign will contribute to eliminating such stigma.
HIV and AIDS are still threats to health and we all need to remain vigilant and do whatever we can to help those affected.
