The Law Society of Hong Kong has presented the 2019 Awards for the Pro-bono and Community Recognition Programme to two of the firm’s partners:

The Law Society supports and encourages a wide variety of pro bono legal services provided by lawyers to the public of Hong Kong. The Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme has been well recognised among the profession since its debut in 2010. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Programme and there has been a threefold increase in the number of participants since the start of the Programme.

The Programme aims to promote and encourage the Law Society members to perform pro bono and community work. It also serves as a platform to show appreciation for and honour Law Society members, trainee solicitors, registered foreign lawyers, local law firms, as well as foreign law firms who/that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteer pro bono and community work.

The Law Society of Hong Kong will continue to encourage the legal practitioners to actively participate in pro bono and community services for the well-being of the legal industry, as well as for the society as a whole.

Alfred Ip stated: “I – as one of the funding partners of Hugill & Ip – look to the future and believe in taking corporate social responsibility. I am deeply committed to pro-bono activities and in the past 12 months I’ve continued to participate and provide such services to our community.”
