Disaster strikes when our trio discover London’s streets aren’t paved with gold but overrun with rodents. Can Dick defeat the evil Rat Queen and save the day? Tom, Dick and Fanny will face danger, disgrace and desert in their quest to vanquish the vermin!
Expect spectacular stage combat, as well as dazzling dances and sparkling songs from our live band in this hilarious evening of festive fun for all the family!
The show is an all-singing, all dancing extravaganza based on an original script. It will be staged at Shouson Theatre (Hong Kong Arts Centre, 2 Harbour Road, Wanchai) from 1 to 10 December 2023.
Hong Kong Players have been staging a traditional Christmas panto since 1889 when The Hong Kong Amateur Dramatic Club, founded in 1844, staged Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Hong Kong archivist, Carl T Smith, highlighted the sense of community that the Panto created as it “enlisted a great many people for the leads, chorus and orchestra”. The Hong Kong Players continues this sense of togetherness as it turns strangers into friends both on stage and off, with its annual Panto.
The tradition of the Panto carries on, which helps Hong Kong Players to raise money to continue staging performances within our community throughout the year. Even through the hardships brought about by COVID-19, Hong Kong Players were determined to bring theatre to our valued audience and community, and the Panto was the perfect way to keep us together.
