The Law Society of Hong Kong presented the 2021 Awards for the Pro-bono and Community Recognition Programme to the firm and six of its solicitors:

The Law Society supports and encourages a wide variety of pro bono legal services provided by lawyers to the public of Hong Kong. The Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme has been well recognised among the profession since its debut over 10 years ago. The Programme aims to promote and encourage the Law Society members to perform pro bono and community work. It also serves as a platform to show appreciation for and honour Law Society members, trainee solicitors, registered foreign lawyers, local law firms, as well as foreign law firms who/that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteer pro bono and community work. The Law Society of Hong Kong will continue to encourage the legal practitioners to actively participate in pro bono and community services for the well-being of the legal industry, as well as for the society as a whole.

During the period in consideration, Hugill & Ip has continued supporting different organisations – PILNet, Asian Fund for Cancer Research, AIDS Concern, Oxfam, Justice Without Borders and other charities and NGOs. A specific focus has been given to initiatives in support of issues related to children and the elderly – from the fundraising campaign #ProtectYourChildren with Mother’s Choice as part of Adoption Awareness Month to the Outreach Legal Talks conducted in several Community Centres for the Elderly across Hong Kong.
