根據早前環聯公布的《2022年全球數碼詐騙趨勢報告》，全球各類可疑的數碼詐騙案數字，在 2019 年至 2021 年間上升 52.2%，其中交大升幅的包括商業身分詐騙與網絡釣魚。

網上騙案的出現方式層出不窮，但當中的模式其實萬變不離其宗，高葉律師行（Hugill & Ip Solicitors）合夥人鄧嘉敏（Carmen Tang）表示，香港網上騙案在層面上西方社會大致同步，內容其實大同小異，大部分都是針對針對財富與網上錢包的盜取，當中或涉及刑事成份。
無論世界如何改變，人性都是最弱的一環，他指出金融騙局在過去 10 年至 20 年來的手法，其實沒有重大改變。就加密貨幣的投資騙局，大部分案件都是先取得受害者信任，過程中曾有「甜頭」與回報，其後慢慢出現未能收到款項的情況，在經過數星期至數月時間後，受害人才意識到無法追回本金的情況，以至損失所有金錢。
商業電郵詐騙（BEC）依然屬於常見手法，假如不幸出現問題，涉及刑事成份當然需要報警，不過鄧嘉敏建議受害人先找律師，或專業人士幫忙解決問題，因為市民未必能清楚表達事發情況，律師可在流程與舉證上提供幫助。他提醒用戶作款項轉帳時要保持警惕，過程中善用其他渠道確認資料，同時亦建議未來私人企業與其他機構，要持續提升員工相關的教育與意識。

Carmen Tang talks about the dramatic increase in the number of digital fraud cases and phishing between 2019 and 2021 (+52%). Both share similar characteristics, they lure individuals and then target their finances. Scams like these are nothing new, however in the past few years we have witnessed target areas develop, with a large increase in frauds relating to cryptocurrency and “romance scams”.
Commercial scams are still the most widespread and such criminal activities ought to be immediately reported to the police, before seeking for professional help from a lawyer. Users need to be vigilant at all times when making online transactions, while financial institutions and service providers need to continue spreading awareness and educate the public about the risks involved.
