The Pro-Bono and Community Work Recognition Committee every year invites members, trainees solicitors, student members, registered foreign lawyers, local law firms and foreign law firms to submit entries and to nominate members and law firms for the awards under the Pro-Bono and Community Work Recognition Programme.
The Pro-Bono and Community Work Awards celebrate the exceptional efforts and commitment of law firms and legal professionals in Hong Kong, who go above and beyond their call of duty to provide free legal services and contribute to a better society. These awards recognize the invaluable impact of their work in promoting access to justice and fostering a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
During the ceremony held on 13 December 2023 at The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, inspiring stories were shared, highlighting the extraordinary contributions of the award recipients. From supporting vulnerable individuals and marginalized communities to championing human rights and advocating for social justice, these individuals and organizations have truly exemplified the spirit of pro-bono work and community service. Their tireless efforts have touched countless lives and created a lasting legacy of positive change. Over the past 14 years, more than 2,000 lawyers and 300 law firms were awarded with 550,000 hours of pro bono and community service achieved by the awardees.
